Misbehaviour release date, cast, plot, trailer: Everything we know about Misbehaviour

Misbehaviour is firming up its cast ahead of its launch at the upcoming American Film Market.

The film company Pathé is presenting the film, which is being led by a team of women.

The director is two-time BAFTA winner Philippa Lowthorpe, is produced by BAFTA nominee Suzanne Mackie and Sarah-Jane Wheale.

When is Misbehaviour out in cinemas?

A release date is so far unclear.

The movie is going up for sales at the AFM, which runs between October 31 and November 7.

From there, Pathe will distribute the film in the UK.

What is the plot of Misbehaviour?

Misbehaviour is based on the extraordinary true story of the 1970 Miss World pageant in London.

In the 1970s, the Miss World pageant was ubiquitous – watched by more than 100 million viewers.

Taking over the stage, the newly formed Women’s Liberation Movement disrupted the pageant with their message.

The group claimed that beauty competitions demeaned women, and the take-over resulted in the group gaining overnight fame.

Then, when the show resumed, the result caused an even greater uproar.

The winner was not the Swedish favourite but Miss Grenada — the first black woman to be crowned Miss World.

Who is in the cast of Misbehaviour?

So far the roles have been kept under wraps, but the names of some of the stars have been released.

Keira Knightly stars alongside Gu-Gu Mbatha-Raw.

Jessie Buckley will also star in the cast.

The screenplay was written by Rebecca Frayn, with revisions by Gaby Chiappe.

Is there a trailer for Misbehaviour?

No trailer exists yet, and details we have are scant so far.

More cast members are likely to be announced soon, including who will take on the role of the pageant show host Bob Hope.

Of the upcoming movie, Deadline aptly wrote: ” The project is a positive sign of the times given it comprises female leads, writers, producers and director.”
