Avengers 4: Could THESE villains be bigger and badder than Thanos?

Thanos has proven himself to be quite the villain. At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, the mad Titan wiped out half of existence with a snap of his fingers. The result was the loss of many well-loved superheroes, with the surviving Avengers tasked with defeating him and resurrecting their friends. Avengers 4 will undoubtedly see these long-gone heroes returned, though how remains to be seen.

Could these eight villains replace Thanos in Avengers 4?

These nine villains could be bigger and worse than Thanos in the final chapter of Phase Three.

Galactus

Fans hoping for a Fantastic Four crossover will be most excited about the possibility of Galactus being the next villain.

A god, Galactus is mostly indifferent towards human existence – the way a human might be indifferent but slightly annoyed, by a fly.

He has tried to destroy Earth several times only to be defeated by Reed Richards, but if a crossover were to take place, who knows what destruction could be wrought upon the planet.

AVENGERS 4 TEASER: WILL NEBULA TEAM UP WITH THIS SURPRISE HERO?

Mephisto

One of two villains, who some speculate Doctor Strange may come to confront in his sequel, Mephisto is as close to the Devil as the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes.

Mephisto has been around in the comic-verse for 50 years, and it’s about time he gets a cinematic debut.

Shuma-Gorath

The second of Doctor Strange’s suspected foes in the upcoming solo movie, Shuma-Gorath is a giant eye surrounded by tentacles and is an interdimensional being of endless power.

Shuma-Gorath’s whole motivation is simply to bring chaos, death, and destruction – sounds about right for a Marvel villain.

AVENGERS 4: WILL THIS SHOCK CHARACTER APPEAR IN AVENGERS 4?

Hate Monger

Hate Monger may be the moist poignant villain for our times; he embodies the ideas of hate, and ideas are impossible to kill.

He has been an ongoing threat to both the Fantastic Four and Captain America, so regardless of a crossover in Marvel’s future, Hate Monger could make an appearance in future MCU films.

The Shadow King

Anyone watching the TV series Legion will recognise this villain.

Though the cinematic universe is unlikely to pull from its TV canon, you never know whose body The Shadow King will take over.

AVENGERS 4 THEORY: WILL THIS HERO SACRIFICE HIMSELF?

The Brood

The Brood are directly inspired by Ridley Scott’s 1979 movie Alien and were created for 1982’s Uncanny X-Men #155 by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum.

Though slightly more terrifying than Scott’s villain, The Brood implant their victims with eggs that take over their host’s body and transform the victim into new Brood. Creepy.

Any of these villains could feature in the final instalment of Phase Three, or even appear as the enemies in Phase Four, helmed by Captain Marvel.

Only time will tell.

Avengers 4 is out in cinemas on April 26, 2019.
