Avengers 4 trailer delayed: Why was the Avengers 4 trailer release date delayed?

The Russo Brothers, the directing duo behind Avengers: Infinity War, have been extremely cagey about advance publicity for Avengers 4. But what fans do know is that Avengers 4 will be the final chapter in Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel has always been deliberately vague when it comes to details of their upcoming films. But with Avengers 4 the studio has been unparalleled in its impenetrability, including when it comes to the trailer.

Why was the Avengers 4 trailer delayed?

There is no official reason from the studio as to why the trailer has been pushed back.

However, many believe it has to do with the funeral of the late George HW Bush, former American president.

When the funeral announcement was made, the date coincided with Marvel’s initial plan for the Avengers 4 trailer.

The funeral is being held today at 11 am EST (4 pm GMT) and Disney reportedly did not want to overshadow the event with a record-breaking trailer launch.

AVENGERS 4 THEORY: WHEN DOES AVENGERS 4 TAKE PLACE?

Many presumed the delay was so as to pay respect to the Bush family.

While this may still be true, there could be another more pragmatic reason for the delay.

According to Jeremy Conrad, editor of MCU Cosmic with Marvel inside sources, the decision had as much to do with respect as profit.

On a National Day of Mourning in the USA, many government offices are closed; this includes the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

AVENGERS 4: DO TONY STARK AND PEPPER POTTS REUNITE IN AVENGERS 4?

There is no trading all day when the NYSE is closed, which means any record-breaking Disney does would have no impact on its share prices.

One fan took to Twitter to lodge their insensitive protestation: “Funerals happen everyday big deal. Mourning is subjective.”

Conrad replied: “It’s not subjective when there’s no market trading on the day of mourning, that affects Disney financially and they won’t start a huge marketing campaign on a day when the market is closed. How hard is that to understand?”

The delay is understandably disappointing for fans who have been waiting with bated breath for the follow up to Avengers: Infinity War.

However, many (except perhaps the one aforementioned disgruntled Twitter user) can understand the respect that needs to be paid.

AVENGERS 4 TEASER: WILL NEBULA TEAM UP WITH THIS SURPRISE HERO?

And, of course, the alleged financial reasons behind the move on Disney’s part is not hard to understand either.

Marvel has a big week ahead of itself, with claims that the first teaser for Spider-Man: Far From Home will come out later this week.

Not to mention the new Captain Marvel trailer launched on Monday night in the USA, early in the UK morning.

Since it has had tens of millions of views and has left in its wake plenty of theories excited fans.

Avengers 4 will be released in UK Cinemas on April 26, 2019.
