Avengers Endgame leaked footage: Fans ABANDON social media after footage leaks to Reddit
Avengers Endgame has a devout following of fans from all over the world. It’s on social media where these fans can connect to share theories and discuss their favourite characters and more. However, in the aftermath of leaked footage to Reddit, fans are abandoning social media to avoid spoilers.
Marvel fans responded on Twitter and Reddit to the leaked footage.
Moderators on Reddit wrote: “The best way to avoid spoilers, of course, is to avoid Reddit (and all social media) entirely and see the movie as soon as possible, but we will try to keep this sub as spoiler-free as we can.”
They have enacted a single pinned master thread for those who have seen the footage to discuss it.
But elsewhere, Reddit will be a spoiler-free zone – to the best of the moderators’ abilities.
Places like Twitter, however, don’t offer the same level of moderation.
In fact, Don’t Spoil The Endgame is now a trending tag on Twitter.
Some fan accounts have been blacklisting certain terms via Twitter’s ‘muted words’ section in its settings.
One fan wrote: “I’ve never taken any precautions to avoiding spoilers for a film…but for ENDGAME…I’m muting the s*** out of every possible word.”
Another said: “I will not hesitate to fight anyone who spoils this movie.”
One fan was clearly enraged by the idea of spoilers, and wrote: “Listen up, f*** you for spoiling Endgame, a movie fans have waited a decade for, a movie that is built on the hard work of the makers, editors, the actors – all of those undeserving of having their years of blood, sweat and tears being thrown down the drain just like that F*** YOU”
Joe Russo discussed the spoilers and staying off social media with Box Office Pro.
He said: “At a certain point, I’m sure we’ll write another letter this year that asks everyone to stay off the internet.
“I think this one has even more spoilers than the last one.
“This is a culture that wants everything now, and it’s getting worse.
“The world is connected via social media, and information travels within seconds.
“If you’ve been following along with this narrative for 10 years, you’re going to want to protect yourself.
“It’s best to go in clean. I encourage people to go opening weekend because I’m sure everything is going to hit the internet the moment the movie hits the screen.”
Avengers: Endgame is out in UK cinemas on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
