Avengers Endgame theory: Will Marvel RESET the snap? Is there proof of NEW TIMELINE?
Avengers: Endgame may have had another short spot revealed during the Super Bowl, but fans are no closer to finding out plot details. Particularly as regards the potential resurrection of heroes. Or time travel. But fans at least now know that time travel is going to be an integral part of the plot…
Will Marvel reset Thanos’ snap?
In effect, this would reset the MCU to the moments before Thanos clicked his fingers and wiped out half of existence.
The theory has been substantiated by Reddit ak2sup.
They wrote that a timeline rewrite, or retcon, already happened and there is proof of it in Infinity War.
During the beginning moments of Infinity War, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) and Pepper Potts (Gwenyth Paltrow) share an intimate moment.
Stark details a dream he had: “Last night, I dreamt we had a kid.
“It was so real. We named him after your eccentric uncle, what was his name… Morgan.”
Though the dream is just a dream, Paltrow herself let slip a teaser which adds validity to the theory.
During an interview last year, she spoke to The Official Movie Special magazine.
“Pepper and Tony have had a really long journey together,” she said.
“She obviously starts as his dutiful assistant, and then the relationship evolves, and now this decade later they’re married, and they have a child.”
The child has not appeared in the MCU except in Stark’s dream.
The Reddit user goes on to point out the dream could, in fact, be a flashforward to one alternate future; the effect of a causal loop.
“A causal loop is a paradox of time travel that occurs when a future event is the cause of a past event, which in turn is the cause of the future event,” the theorist explains.
“Both events then exist in spacetime, but their origin cannot be determined.
“A causal loop may involve an event, a person or object, or information.”
The official synopsis for Endgame comes from Disney Australia’s official Avengers: Endgame website.
It reads: “After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos.”
“With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.”
Avengers: Endgame is out in cinemas April 25, 2019.
