If Peter Parker is swinging back onto screen this year fans could assume they would have heard by now, since Tom Holland is notoriously bad at keeping secrets.

However, it seems that Marvel and Sony have learned to only let him know what they actually want leaked.

The star himself claims he has no idea how he will even be brought back to life, if that is what Marvel will do in Avengers 4.

We know he is about to start filming Spider-Man: Far From Home but what about another massively rumoured cameo?

Holland recently admitted at ACE Seattle ComicCon: “I wanted to apologise because there’s no real revelations coming out this weekend about Spider-Man 2. I don’t know much about it. I’m a little confused because, um, I died, so I don’t really know how it all comes into play but… I do know I’ve got the new script. I’m super-excited to read it and it’s it’s gonna be great. So, yeah, Spider-Man 2, let’s do this.”

Avengers 4 will be released next April, with Far From Home following in July, but there is another major Marvel adaptation arriving before that.

The upcoming Tom Hardy Venom project is not a Marvel Studios movie, since the rights to the character remain with Sony Pictures, but it is undeniably a Spider-Man spin-off since the anti-hero originated in Peter Parker’s own comicbook universe.

There were reports earlier this year that Holland had been spotted on the Venom set and speculation was rife whether he would appear on screen as Peter or Spidey.

A major new Venom feature in Entertainment Weekly finally sets the record straight.

It said: “Venom is the first of Sony’s new films based on characters from the Spider-Man comics, although it’s a separate world from last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. (It’s also not part of the deal between Sony and Disney that allows Tom Holland’s Spidey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe).”

This seems to close down any hope of a cameo by firmly referring to a “separate world.” It looks like the upcoming raft of Sony Marvel movies will not crossover at all with any MCU releases and strictly operate in a totally different dimension.

VENOM IS OUT ON OCTOBER 5, 2018. AVENGERS 4 IS OUT ON APRIL 27, 2019. SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME IS OUT ON JULY 5, 2019
