Avengers: Infinity War end credit scene: What happened in dramatic after credits?

Fans of Marvel films have now come to expect a post-credit scene, something to keep them speculating for the next movie ahead.

But after a devastating cliffhanger ending, was the easter egg enough to keep fans from total heartbreak?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is seriously depleted. In the final moments of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos’ chaos has its hold on the world.

The Mad Titan Thanos has tirelessly been hunting for the six Infinity Stones, even choosing to sacrifice his own daughter Gamora to get his hands on one of the artefacts.

And with a simple click of his fingers, the mad titan used them to destroy half the world.

Indiscriminately, half of fans’ beloved superheroes were turned to dust.

In the final scenes before the credits, the full impact of Thanos’ wrath is felt in his attempts to bring about a new dawn for the cosmos.

But what about that post-credit scene?

There is no rhyme or reason to who disappears and fans were left with their jaws on cinema floors as they saw their favourites evaporating into thin air.

Bucky Barnes, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, and a slew of other heroes are wiped from existence, leaving a rag-tag group to deal with the consequences of Thanos’ actions.

Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) are also left trying to figure out what happened.

And in the post-credits scene, audiences see a now driverless car crashing in front of them as a helicopter without its pilot smashes into a building.

Without warning, Nick Fury begins to crumble. But before he fully vanishes, he reaches into the back of his car.

Despite having the most advanced technology, Fury reaches for what looks like a retro beeper.

He desperately punches out a distress signal and before he can utter a word, turns to dust.

The pager flashes blue and red with a golden star insignia across the front.

This symbol was known to die-hard fans of the Marvel comics as the calling card of Captain Marvel.
