Batman: Christian Bale gives Robert Pattinson major WARNING as plot details 'LEAK'
Earlier this summer Ben Affleck’s replacement as Batman was announced as none other than Twilight star Robert Pattinson. The 33-year-old is set to star as the new Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’ 2021 Batman solo outing. The new film is believed to be set in the 1990s and focused on the Caped Crusader in his prime. And now three-time Batman star Christian Bale has shared his advice with Pattinson for playing the superhero, which included a stark warning about his costume.
Speaking with Variety, Bale said: “Good choice! He’s interesting.”
Asked what advice he’d give he said: “Oh, same as Ben [Affleck], just be able to pee by yourself.
“You don’t feel like a superhero when you aren’t able to p**s by yourself.”
Bale was, of course, referring to the restrictive nature of the Batman suit.
Meanwhile, plot details for Pattinson’s solo outing may have leaked.
According to film insider Daniel Richtman, the film is going to be very detective focused, taking Batman back to his roots.
In a new video, Richtman writes: “The Batman will explore a detective case.
“When people start dying in strange ways, Batman must go deep into the dark world of Gotham to find clues and solve the mystery/conspiracy connected to Gotham City’s history and criminals.
“In the film, all of Batman Rogues Gallery are already out there and active, similar to the comics and animated shows/movies.
“The film will have multiple villains, as they are all suspects.”
But does this mean that Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker could feature?
Certainly, Joker is set in 1981 and features Bruce Wayne as a little boy, so it’s certainly possible for him to pop up in a 1990s set Batman movie.
However, Joker director Todd Phillips has confirmed to Variety that the two incarnations will never meet, despite previous comments, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be another version of the Clown Prince of Crime to face Pattinson’s Batman.
Phillips said: “No, definitely not. Oddly, in the states, comic books are our Shakespeare it seems, and you can do many, many versions of Hamlet.
“There will be many more jokers, I’m sure, in the future.”
The Batman is set for release in June 2021.
