Batman v Superman SHOCK ‘Warner Bros DONE with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill's superheroes’

Warner Bros are busy trying to reboot their box office bombing and critically panned DC Extended Universe following Justice League’s disastrous run last year.

To be fair Wonder Woman was a success and the studio are moving forward with Aquaman this Christmas, but the newly dubbed Worlds of DC is going through some changes.

And according to Variety’s sources, this means that Affleck and Cavill’s Batman and Superman are out.

Unsurprisingly the reason for the big changeup was the box office disappointment of Justice League.

The outlet claims: “Warner Bros. has been reevaluating its approach to making movies based on DC Comics characters.

“The studio is not moving forward with Batman and Superman movies featuring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, respectively.

“It is expected to recast the Dark Knight with a different actor.”

While the Affleck news isn’t that surprising since Matt Reeves is making a Batman film about a younger Dark Knight, Cavill is somewhat a surprise.

It was previously claimed that Cavill was out as Superman, but Warner Bros and the actor’s agent have said this isn’t the case.

Meanwhile, the star posted a Superman-themed Instagram video that was certainly very cryptic.

Interestingly Variety’s source says both Batman and Superman movies starring Affleck and Cavill are out and that the previous will be recast. 

However, the report didn’t mention that Cavill would be.

It’s entirely possible the actor could cameo as Superman in other films, although this seems unlikely if Warner Bros are rebooting much of the franchise.

Meanwhile, Ezra Miller’s Flash movie has been pushed back to 2021 due to the star’s shooting conflicts with Fantastic Beasts sequels.

There’s also Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie set for release next year and fired Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is writing Suicide Squad 2.

From what can be seen it looks like Warner Bros is reproducing what’s working for their DC property and rebooting what isn’t.
