It has been huge hit at the box office, with fans embracing the chance to see their idols brough to life on the big screen.

Bohemian Rhapsody divided critics but has taken over $500million at the box office.

No-one can possibly know how accurate it all is except for the men who were there, the band themselves.

Drummer Roger Taylor is portrayed as a womanising player, enjoying every moment of being a rock star. The film also shows that he clashed numerous times with Freddie – but what did the real-life Roger think of it all?

The overwhelming reaction to the movie, whether people wanted it to take a harder line with the subject matter or not, is how incredibly accurate the portrayals of Mercury, Taylor, Brian May and John Deacon apear to be.

In an interview with Flicks and the City (via CinemaBlend) Taylor said: “They got very close to us, visually and as actors, which made it particularly uncanny for us to watch. After a couple of viewings, I mean you just start to completely believe, ‘Oh that was us.’

“No, no it’s not. It’s other people, but phenomenal.”

Taylor also stressed the side of Freddie he felt many miss: ” I think what a lot of people think about Freddie, and the media go, ‘Oh he was flamboyant, whatever,’ and they remember him for other things and they forget he was a brilliant musician. I think the film does pay attention to the fact that Freddie was a great, great musician.”

The Queen legend adds to the praise for Rami Malek’s perfoamnce as Freddie.

He said: “The speaking, the timbre, the tone of the whole range of his voice is pretty spot on.”

May also pays tribute to the depth Rami Malek brings to the role and his ability to show Freddie’s softer side.

He added: “I love the way Rami has captured not only Freddie’s great powers and ebullience but also the sensitive side, the vulnerability of Freddie, of which there was a lot.”
