Cathay Pacific has teamed up with international Yoga brand, Pure Yoga to launch a new in-flight program focused on healthy traveling.

Part of the airline’s ‘Life Well Travelled’ campaign, the “Travel Well with Yoga” program features a series of videos that provide passengers with yoga and meditation exercises and tips. The videos, which launch systemwide in January, are available in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese on all Cathay Pacific routes. They can be found under the “Lifestyle” section on the in-flight entertainment screens.

“We all know that sitting still for a long period of time can be uncomfortable,” said Simon Cuthbert, Platforms and Connectivity Manager for Cathay Pacific Entertainment. “The need to get up, move and get your blood pumping is important during a flight. Yoga is an innovative way to do this. There are a series of exercises that can easily be done from an economy class seat whilst other moves are suitable for after the flight in your hotel.”

The entire program is split into six easy-to-follow videos, in which Pure Yoga’s founding teacher Patrick Creelman and senior instructor & co-founder Almen Wong, demonstrate routines designed to improve circulation, enhance joint mobility and relax the mind for a more comfortable flight, that can be done before, during or after the flight.

“Pure Yoga has been a pioneer in shedding light on yoga’s numerous physical and mental benefits whilst making them more accessible,” said Gary Wise, Pure Group Regional Marketing Director. “Travel Well with Yoga is a huge step forward in that process, and we’re delighted to present this unique program in collaboration with a partner as prestigious as Cathay Pacific.”

Members of Cathay Pacific’s elite traveler Marco Polo Club will also receive a complimentary 10-day trial, a 50 percent discount on initial membership and a complimentary access upgrade at all Pure Yoga studios across Asia. Pure Yoga and Pure Fitness feature 30 locations across Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Taipei and New York City.

In-flight yoga offerings have proven to be popular with travelers. In 2015, Air France and Delta introduced a similar service, while Qatar Airways published a four-page inflight yoga guide as far back as 2009. Airports, too, are hopping on the bandwagon, offering yoga studios and other meditative spaces for frazzled travelers.
