The former UFC lightweight champion appeared at Kings County Criminal Court in Brooklyn, New York earlier this afternoon charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief for his actions at the UFC 223 media day.

The charges were levelled McGregor’s way after he and his entourage attacked a bus at the Barclays Center, with the s poster boy throwing a dolly through one of its windows.

McGregor’s rampage left his fellow fighters Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg with facial and eye injuries respectively and forced them to withdraw from the third pay-per-view card of the year.

McGregor, who hasn’t fought in the UFC in over 19 months, appeared before a judge with his accomplice Cian Cowley.

“I understand the seriousness of this matter and I am hopeful that it gets resolved soon. Thank you.”

Moments later, McGregor’s manager Audie Attar told MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani: “Today, we were here to focus on court.

“We’re not here to focus on any future plans until we handle this matter.

“Right now, we’re in good negotiations with the district attorney, so we’re going to focus on that. And then we’ll focus on the future later.”

McGregor hasn’t set foot inside the Octagon since his historic UFC 205 victory over Eddie Alvarez, a triumph which saw him become the promotion’s first simultaneous two-weight world champion.

‘The Notorious’ will meet with UFC president Dana White later this month discuss his antics at the UFC 223 media day and potentially his next opponent.

”He and I are meeting on the 18th of this month,” White told recently told TMZ.

“I don’t know whats gonna happen,” White added when asked if McGregor’s next fight would be a topic of discussion. “I don’t know what Conor has planned.

“I don’t know what Conor and his team have worked on.”
