Deadpool 2: How THAT major A-list cameo was kept secret – not even the CAST knew
WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Deadpool 2.
The Ryan Reynolds-fronted sequel, which has achieved mixed-to-positive reviews, features a lot of pop culture references and cameos, but there’s one in particular that caught fans by surprise.
Brad Pitt is revealed to be playing the Vanisher in X-Force when he is electrocuted by a telephone wire.
And it seems that even the cast weren’t 100% sure that he was involved.
“I wasn’t there when he did that,” Domino star Zazie Beetz told RadioTimes.com.
“I think they got some studio space and did that later on, threw him in there.”
There were rumours that producers had added an extra day of shooting in LA quite late into the production process – which could well have been for Pitt to film his parts.
“I do remember hearing on set conversations that Brad Pitt might do it, woaaaaah,” Beetz added to the UK publication.
“So I wasn’t sure if it was actually gonna happen. I saw the movie last week and I was like ‘Oh he did it!’ So, that was great.”
Deadpool 2 has an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes at present, and is due to topple Avengers: Infinity War at box offices around the world this weekend.
In a positive review, The Sun said: “Easily in a different class to pretty much everything else out there in its genre.”
The Daily Mail agreed: “Deadpool 2 is even more ribald and subversive than the first film, and pulsates with sardonic, self-aware wit from the opening shot.”
But in a more negative write-up, Wall Street Journal said: “It’s overstuffed, and essentially empty.”
Deadpool 2 is out now.
