Express.co.uk has all the latest information on the new Downton Abbey cast – read on to find out more.

Who plays George V in Downton Abbey?

Simon Jones plays King George V in the upcoming Downton Abbey movie.

The actor is likely best known for his various portrayals of Arthur Dent, the protagonist of Douglas Adams’s The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

He played Arthur first in a radio play in 1978 before taking on the role in the 1981 television series.

Simon also had a cameo in the 2005 film, which starred Martin Freeman, but is also known for his role in Miracle on 34th Street, Terry Gilliam’s Brazil, and the 1980s series of Brideshead Revisited.

Alongside Simon’s King George V is Queen Mary, payed by Geraldine Jones.

Geraldine is best known at present for Netflix series Anne with an E, but she has also been in Made in Daghenham, Calendar Girls and the Guy Ritchie adaptations of Sherlock Holmes as Mrs Hudson.

More recently, Geraldine Jones was in Star Wars film Rogue One and Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Geraldine has also performed in various TV series, including The Jewel in the Crown, Rebecca, and her theatre role as Portia in the Broadway revival of The Merchant of Venice.

Alongside them, their daughter Princess Mary is played by Kate Phillips.

She is best known for her roll in Peaky Blinders as Linda Shelby, Arthur’s wife, alongside The Crown as Venetia Scott and Wolf Hall, where she played Henry VIII’s wife Jane Seymour.

Of course, no royal visit is complete without the royal entourage, and these royals have David Haig and Philippe Spall.

Philippe has played small roles in Wonder Woman, Allied and TV series Man Down, Wolf Hall and the Red Dwarf reboot.

But David is a stalwart of Brit TV, known most recently for Killing Eve, but he has also been in Penny Dreadful, Yes Prime Minister, The Thick of It, and Soldier Soldier.

His film credits include Richard Curtis’s Four Weddings and a Funeral and Florence Foster Jenkins.

Who is in the cast of Downton Abbey?

There are many people back from the TV series, including Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern as the Lord and Lady of the house.

Michelle Dockery and Laura Carmichael are Ladies Mary and Edith, while their husbands are played by Matthew Goode and Harry Hadden-Paton.

Tom Branson is back, played by Allen Leech, along with Penalope Wilton as Isobel Grey, and newcomer to the franchise Imelda Staunton as Lady Maud Bagshaw.

The beloved downstairs squad is back as well with Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, Joanne Froggatt, Rob James-Collier, Lesley Nicol and Phyllis Logan all reprising their roles.

Downton Abbey comes to cinemas on Friday, September 13
