50p coins created in 2016 by Royal Mint to celebrate one of the UK’s most popular children’s author are still a huge hit online three years later.

Now four 50p coins have sold for a whopping £929 on eBay.

Seller “mlfr89”, real name Michael Fowler, from Aylsebury sold the collection for a huge sum of money.

The set was advertised as simply as: “Peter Rabbit 2016 FULL SET of 4. Beatrix Potter colour silver proof 50p. Rare.”

A huge bidding war broke out over the item, with 7 bidders making a total of 54 bids.

The coin was sold yesterday to a lucky bidder who is likely to treasure the rare set.

These coins were all silver proof, and so came in plastic cases from Royal Mint.

The characters of Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle and Squirrel Nutkin appear on the pretty coins.

The Peter Rabbit coins have been the most popular of all, but they are not the rarest.

Jemima Puddle-Duck is considered to be a rare 50p coin.

The latest coin to be added to this particular collection is The Tailor of Gloucester.

A UK 50p Brilliant Uncirculated Coin costs £10 from the Royal Mint.

The children’s books tells the story of a cat who is sent to buy sewing supplies.

While the cat is gone his owner, a tailor, finds and free the mice the cat has captured.

Then, when the tailor falls ill the grateful mice help him with his sewing, and the result helps the tailor to make fortunes.

Recently another collection of Peter Rabbit 50p coins sold for £1,175 on eBay.

A rare alphabet 10p coin has sold for £90 recently.

One of the new 10p coins, released in March, represents James Bond or 007.

The coin, which comes in a commemorative box set in plastic, is a silver proof coin, making it rare and collectable.

There are only 15,000 of these coins in the whole of the UK, making it one many coin collectors would hope to add to their collection.

One of a collection of 26 new coins, which went into circulation on the 1 March, the celebrates the UK’s greatest fictional spy.
