Dornan will play another handsome and dangerous hero in the upcoming blockbuster.

His character is often classically portrayed as a charming lady-killer, although he also seems to be handy with a variety of weapons including an improvised Medieval grenade.

Dornan looks suitably swarthy in leathers although there are no whips to be seen as yet…

Watch the new main trailer below.

Dornan plays Will Scarlet alongside Jamie Foxx as Little John and Mathilda the Musical creator Tim Minchin as Friar Tuck.

After menacing his way through Rogue One and Ready Player One, Ben Mendelssohn tackles yet anther villain as the Sheriff of Nottingham with newcomer Eve Hewson playing Maid Marian.

The lead role is taken by Kingsman and Eddie the Eagle star Taron Egerton.

Although the movie retains the classic Middle Ages setting, it seems to be playing with modern variations on costume and scenes.

Ti shas been tried more than once recently, but rarely with much success.

After last year’s disastrous Guy Ritchie King Arthur reboot, audiences may be wary of yet another attempt to rework a story that has already been well done more than once.

Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe did not create definitive Robins but Mendelsohn may struggle to eclipse Alan Rickman’s sheriff.

The official synopsis says: “Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.”

Robin Hood will be released in UK cinemas on November 21, 2018.
