James Bond: Superman Henry Cavill on replacing Daniel Craig as 007 'Very, very exciting'
Earlier this month a report from Hollywood claimed Tom Hardy had already been cast as James Bond over the summer. Daniel Craig will retire when No Time To Die eventually hits cinemas but the race to replace him has been raging since the 2016 release of SPECTRE. Cavill, himself, came very close to clinching the role when he was just 22 and made it down to the final two before being pipped to the post by Craig. At 27, the star is now the perfect age to play the British spy, with major action roles under his belt – and he just revealed he has high hopes this time around.
Cavill established his physical action credential with his muscular performance as Superman followed by his appearance in 2018’s Mission Impossible Fallout. He has also played a smooth and suave secret agent in Guy Richie’s The Man From Uncle.
The British star also defied expectations (and revealed his geek credentials) by taking the lead in the Netflix fantasy show The Witcher. Again, playing a virile, ruthless and relentless action hero.
Asked this week about taking over as James Bond, he said: “At this stage, it’s all up in the air.”
This absolutely destroys reports that Hardy already had the role in the bag and Cavill also xpanded on his own hopes for becoming the next 007.
James Bond; Will Henry Cavill replace Daniel Craig?
Cavill said: “We’ll see what happens. But yes, I would love to play Bond, it would be very, very exciting.
“If Barbara (Broccoli, the main Bond producer) and Mike (Bond co-producer Michael G. Wilson) were interested in that, I would absolutely jump at the opportunity.”
The fact that he is on first name basis with both, already reveals his closeness to the Bond franchise and its ongoing plans.
Fans should also be very excited by the ‘We’ll see what happens’. Cavill is a master at subtext.
His comments about returning as Superman in the same interview are very similar.
James Bond hopes: Henry Cavill in Enola Holmes
Asked in a new interview to promote Enola Holmes to confirm the reports that he had signed on for thee more movies, plus cameos, Cavill said: “Well, I think it’s important that this should be about Enola Holmes.”
Yet he openly spoke about Bond, The Witcher and even the upcoming expanded reissue of Justice League.
Pushed to clarify, he told GQ: “I said what I said,” which is clearly not a denial.
He was much more open about the new Justice League version and rumored reshoots involving the main cast.

James Bond films and actors
DC and comic book fans were thrilled when Warner Bros finally confirmed that a four-hour expansion of the Justice League film was on the way next year, helmed by Zac Snyder.
Snyder had withdrawn from the project due to personal issue s and Joss Whedon was brought in to finish it. His considerable changes to the original plans for the movie enraged fans and are blamed for the underwhelming box office performance.
Fans have been campaigning for years for a release of the “Snyder Cut’ which will now be a four-part mini series on HBO Max.
Cavill will disappoint fans with his admission he isn’t directly involved: “They are doing their own thing out there, putting the movie together from the footage they shot. I’ve not been in comms with them about it.”
