Lakers are set to make a run at George, whose £18.2million-a-year contract expires on Friday.

George’s prospective move to the Lakers has been in the pipeline for some time now.

However, as of yet, there has been no official word about where he could play his basketball next season.

Although he has built up a strong partnership with Russell Westbrook at Thunder, it might not be enough to persuade him to stay.

But the pitch made by Lakers to George drew a hostile response from ESPN pundit Kellerman.

When asked for his thoughts about the nature of Lakers’ pitch, he said: “This pitch leaking is a big deal.

“It harkens back to a Lakers team not long ago before Magic joined.

“The pitch itself was completely unimaginative and uninspiring.

“In fact, it reminded me of the Dwight Howard billboards when he was leaving.

“This was like a nothing pitch.”

However, ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst is under the impression George will stay at Thunder.

He said: “When that came out via press release, there was a reaction in the NBA about it.

“Several executives that I talked to said ‘if he’s already got the documentary made does he already know where he’s going to go?’

“Knowing that the Lakers are not allowed to tamper with him, considering they’ve already been fined for tampering, does this indicate that Paul George is going back to the Oklahoma City Thunder?

“Some people are viewing it that way. Some people are planning for that and everyone in the league is going to be watching to see if Paul leaves any hints in his first instalment.”
