Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, are now husband and wife. The couple wed in a lavish ceremony that took place in Windsor today.

One of the big questions on the day was what dress Meghan would be wearing, which was quickly revealed to have been designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy

While the dress was a simple design, it was the five-metre-long veil that stole the show, created by the same designer.

Underneath the veil, Meghan wore her long brown locks in a neat updo.

Mathew Soobroy, Principal Stylist at Charles Worthington Salons, has revealed how you can recreate the look at home.

Mathew said: “Meghan has a gone for a sleek, simply beautiful style.

“Her choice of hair is a total royal classic yet still modern, by tucking it behind her ears it makes it a little less perfect.

“The Alice band tiara simplifies it even further. This is the perfect style to shows off the neckline of the dress beautifully.”

Here is the step-by-step of how to create Meghan’s wedding hair at home:

1. Prep the hair with L’Oreal tec ni pli and blow dry the hair to fall smooth

2. Create a centre parting and section the front hairline out, backcombing at the crown to create volume

3. Gather the rest into a low sleek ponytail and use Kerastase Therapiste serum to smooth

4. Section the ponytail into 6 parts to create barrel curls and secure with pins

5. Pull back the loose hair at the front and then pin gently around the bun so you get a super soft finish, framing the eyes and cheeks

6. Spray with L’Oreal couture carousel hair spray to give the firmness and create hold

According to Mathew, Meghan’s hair is a classic wedding look, and shares similarities with Pippa’s hair at her wessing last year.

Compared to Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding hair, Mathew said: “Kate went for a half up, half down look where as Meghan has gone for a full up do.

“Kate’s was more loose with her ears covered, while Meghan’s is pulled behind her ears – both beautiful.”

If Mathew had the opportunity to do Meghan’s wedding hair, would he have done anything differently?

He said: “No, not at all. The hair complements her dress beautifully. She looks amzing – very regal and very bridal.”

For any upcoming bride looking to do their own wedding hair, Mathew advised: “Always work with the dress in mind. Meghan’s gone for a dress style that is very elegant, simple and structured, with a show stopping tiara and incredible veil.

“Simple, structure and elegance is the order of the day.

Meghan expressed the wish of having all 53 countries of the Commonwealth with her on her journey through the ceremony when it came to the design of her veil.

To meet with her request, Ms Keller designed a veil representing the distinctive flora of each Commonwealth country united in one spectacular floral composition.

Walking up the steps to the chapel, Meghan’s veil, large in size, floated behind her and gently concealed her face from visibility
