In 2015, Donald Trump launched his presidential campaign with his family by his side. In 2016 Trump was elected the 45th President of the United States, and in 2017 moved into the White House. Since becoming President, Trump has turned to his daughter – business woman Ivanka Trump – for political support, even making her one of his advisors in the White House.

Confident and powerful, Ivanka has even had to take over some of the First Lady’s duties from Melania Trump.

According to “Ivanka Trump: A Revealing Portrait of Her Life, Family, and Career” by Lee Lyons, due to Melania being “uncomfortable” speaking at a podium, Ivanka filled the role of “surrogate spouse” in public.

Mr Lyons claims: “As Donald’s wife Melania isn’t particularity comfortable behind a podium, the press referred to Ivanka as serving the role of ‘surrogate spouse’ in public.

“When Trump first announced his candidacy in June 2015, it was Ivanka who introduced him, while his wife stayed in the background.”

In July 2016 at the Republican National Convention, Ivanka took to the stage again to introduce her father, while Melania stayed seated in the crowd.

Melania has previously been branded the most “private First Lady” of the modern era.

In ABC’s Documentary “Being Melania: The First Lady” they explained: “In Washington, people really don’t know her like they know most First Ladies,” before referring to the former model as an “enigma”.

While not always the most vocal, the Slovenian-American former fashion model has found a cause to focus on during her time in the White House.

The mother-of-one launched the “Be Best” initiative to focus on cyberbullying in children earlier this year.

In the documentary, the President’s wife claimed she was one of the “most bullied people in the world”.

She explained: “People would not say it to my face, but they’re hiding behind keyboards, and that’s the danger. That’s why I’m focusing on social media for the next generation.

“Not everyone has a thick skin, and we have a big problem in the United States and across the world.”
