Princess Eugenie: Royal goes for casual chic at charity cycling event with James Blunt
Princess Eugenie cut a relaxed figure when she attended the launch of a charity cycle ride today. The granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth and singer James Blunt both made an appearance at the Blue Marine Foundation’s (BLUE) largest individual fundraising event. Eugenie was pictured cutting the ribbon to mark the start of BLUE’s fourth annual London to Monaco charity cycle ride. The Princess chose a casual look for the royal send-off in Windsor Great Park this morning.
Princess Eugenie wore an ankle-length, dark-coloured shirt dress for the cycling event.
The dress featured small white buttons down the front and had three-quarter length sleeves.
The number boosted oversized chest pockets and a wide lapel as it fastened low enough to just give a hint of cleavage.
The 29-year-old royal rounded off the effortlessly elegant look with a chunky black belt.
It cinched her in at the waist and featured a large gold buckle with black and white detailing to jazz up the outfit.
Eugenie wore smart black loafers with a splash of colouring on the front on her fee
As for jewellery, the Princess opted for a fine gold chain around her left wrist. Eugenie’s engagement ring could also be seen on her left hand.
The very rare creation was made using a special form of sapphire. The unique pink stone is encircled by diamonds, lending the ring the appearance of a sparkling flower.
When Princess Eugenie’s engagement ring was first revealed many commented on its close resemblance to the engagement her mother, Sarah Ferguson, was given by Prince Andrew in the 80s.
Princess Eugenie kept her makeup natural for the Windsor event and her hair was swept back in a low style.
The royal joined James Blunt and ITV’s Tour of Britain presenter Matt Barbet as they saw-off more than 70 cyclists departing from Windsor Great Park on their eight-day challenge.
The riders will take on 900km of Spanish Basque country, French Pyrenees, olive groves of Provence, and some sections of Europe’s Grand Tours to arrive at the Musée Océanographique de Monaco for a champagne reception.
Now in its fourth year, the fundraising event sees a shared aim of raising £500,000 for BLUE’s projects, along with helping achieve its goal to protect vast tracts of the world’s oceans.
BLUE exists to combat overfishing and the destruction of biodiversity – arguably the largest problem facing the world’s oceans – by creating large-scale marine reserves and developing models of sustainable fishing.
So far, BLUE has helped to protect four million square kilometres of ocean and this year’s funds will go towards supporting BLUE’s projects in the Maldives, Ascension Island, Patagonia, Cyprus, Namibia and Azerbaijan.
Princess Eugenie and James Blunt both bear a strong passion for ocean conservation, with Blunt working alongside BLUE as an ambassador for a number of years.
Eugenie was recently seen at singer Ellie Goulding’s star-studded wedding. Goulding married her longtime boyfriend Caspar, 27, who is said to have been introduced to the singer by the Princess, who married her husband Jack Brooksbank in October last year.
