Queen Letizia looks elegant in cornflower blue dress at decoration ceremony in spain
Queen Letizia wore a lovely, blue summer dress during a visit to the decoration ceremony at the Royal Palace in Madrid, Spain. The mum-of-two teamed the flow dress with a matching blue clutch purse, which she held under her arm, a pair of diamond droplet earrings, and nude court heels. The soft pleats in the A-line ensemble complimented her figure, while the length of the dress, which came just below her knees, added an air of sophistication. For the event, she wore her hair elegantly in a bun. She was joined by her husband, Spain’s King Felipe VI and her daughters Princess Leonor, 13, and Princess Sofia, 12.
A total of 41 Spaniards are decorated in a ceremony to mark the 5th anniversary of Felipe VI’s reign.

Why is blue a royal colour?
Historically blue is a colour that has long been associated with royalty, art, military, business, which may have informed Letitizia’s choice of dress for the day.
The colour of Letizia’s dress is very similar to the shades worn by the Royal Family yesterday at Royal Ascot.
The racing event kicked off with thousands flocking to the famous races including the Queen, Prince Andrew, Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.
The Queen was joined by Queen Maxima and her husband the King of Netherlands, however Queen Letizia wasn’t present.
Her outing today could explain her absence from the racing event, which took place a day after she attended the Order of the Garter Service the day before at Windsor.
Both Letizia and Kate Middleton were guests at the event.
Coincidentally, the two women were co-ordinated in elegant black-and-white ensembles.
While Kate wore a monochrome look from a favourite designer of her’s Catherine Walker, Letizia opted for a monochrome look from Cherubina.
Kate’s “Liza” coatdress from the brand was inspired by a retro look, the company revealed.
The website says of the piece: “A contemporary take on a ’50’s look, this coatdress in ivory wool crepe has copped jacket ‘panels’ edged in fine black lace.”
The pair rode together in a carriage as part of the Garter Day procession and were joined by Sophie, Countess of Wessex; Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall; and the Netherlands’ Queen Maxima.
The three wives were supporting their husbands, all of whom are members of the Order: William as a senior British royal, King Willem-Alexander and King Felipe as Knights of the Garter.
The Order of the Garter is the oldest and most senior order of chivalry in Britain, established by King Edward III nearly 700 years ago.
Following the event, social media viewers accused Kate and Letizia of a feud.
Kate Middleton and other foreign royals were watched closely at the Order of the Garter and some believed there was tension between the pair.
“Watch the body language – Kate doesn’t even acknowledge Letizia,” one wrote, as another added: “What did Letizia ever done to Kate? Last time they visited she did the same, ignored her at the State Dinner and put on a grumpy face all night. She was rude not to curtsy.”
However Body Language expert Judi James appeared to clear this up by explaining that any “awkwardness” may have been down to Kate having to ride in a carriage, despite really not liking it.
“Her body language reflected tension during the ride at the Trooping of the Colour and this could be a similar problem for her here,” she said.
