Rami Malek: What are Bohemian Rhapsody star's odds to win Best Actor Oscar?
Rami Malek, the star of Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, has done well at awards season so far. Malek has scooped a handful of awards for his trophy cabinet this year, having won the Best Actor award at the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the BAFTAs. But the award to win is the Academy Award, which airs this year at 1 am GMT on Monday, February 25, 2019.
What are Rami Malek’s odds to win Best Actor at the Oscars?
Oddsmakers put Malek in the top spot to win the coveted Best Actor award.
SkyBet puts his odds at one to three, while Ladbrokes has him at odds of one to five.
He comes in ahead of Christian Bale, who is nominated for his portrayal of Dick Cheney in Vice.
Though Bradley Cooper did not receive a nomination for Best Director, he is in third place with oddsmakers to take home the Best Actor award.
Viggo Mortensen is fourth on the list for his role in Green Book alongside Mahershala Ali.
Last on the list is Willem Dafoe for At Eternity’s Gate for the role of Vincent Van Gogh.
Malek’s nomination for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury has not been without its own controversy.
Bohemian Rhapsody has been unable to escape the long shadow of its director, Bryan Singer.
But despite the disturbing allegations that surround Singer, the movie has not suffered.
Bohemian Rhapsody was the surprise win at the Golden Globes for Best Picture.
The winners of the Golden Globes are often a predictor of who, and what, won’t win at the Oscars.
However, in addition to his Golden Globes win Malek also took home the SAG award.
The SAG awards nomination usually coincides with a nomination at the Oscars.
But the Oscars itself has a much larger voting pool than other Awards shows.
For the Oscars, there are approximately 8,000 voters casting their opinion.
