With party season in full swing the high street is jam packed with amazing velvet pieces.

Velvet saw a resurgence several season’s ago and has since stayed as the hight streets favourite fabric.

But don’t fear, while velvet used to be something very much associated with the eighties it has been brought into the modern day.

From chic palazzo trousers to bias cut dresses, like this hot pink Topshop one, every silhouette and colour is getting the velvet treatment this winter.

Perfectly pink and berry tones work really well with velvet.

From crushed blush colours to deep cherry reds, velvet is the perfect fabrication to make you feel festive.

Look for thick piled fabrics as these will dazzle under the light.

Bias cuts will also drape beautifully adding to the party vibe.

Look for more form countering shapes to avoid being drowned in waves of velvet.

Go regal in jewel tones to add to the sense of occasion of the season.

Royal blue and emerald hues are especially beautiful in velvet.

The sheen of the fabric will ensure you dazzle on the dance floor.

These beautiful Ghost dresses feature delicate leg of mutton sleeves and button fronts to add a vintage vibe to proceedings.

The key to wearing velvet well is to concentrate on fit.

The seam detailing on this dress skims over your silhouette without overshadowing your curves.

Shine bright in gold velvet.

This stunning Monsoon dress won’t fail to turn heads this party season.

Pair with pale pink accessories to balance out the metallic overload.
