Wonder Woman is currently the strongest property in the troubled DC Extended Universe.

So, why would Warner Bros suddenly pull Gal Gadot’s sequel from the schedules?

The film was eagerly awaited for a November 2019 release date but the actress herself put a positive spin on this week’s shock announcement: “Super excited to announce that, thanks to the changing landscape, we are able to put Wonder Woman back to its rightful home. June 5, 2020. Be there or be square!!!”

Rumours are flying in Hollywood and a major commentator just revealed an exclusive report that the next Wonder Woman movie will now be heavilly rewritten to set up a completely new DCEU that will potentially erase the problems (and entire plotlines) of Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman.

Grace Randolph at Beyond The Trailer dropped the news.

She said: “Was Warner Bros scared? Did the movie require significant reshoots because it was horrible? Well, part of that is true. Significant reshoots are coming. I am hearing that the movie is going to be reworked and become Wonder Woman 1984: Flashpoint.

“I don’t know if its going to be called that – but that’s essentially what it is. Which means the upcoming Flash movie is just a regular Flash movie.”

The Youtube pundit reports that since the Flash standalone has been pushed back to 2021, WB need to reboot the DCEU before that and Wonder Woman was the only movie that fits the timeframe. Plus, since the Wonder Woman movie happens in the past, she could somehow alter the timeline, allowing a fresh new start for the DCEU.

The Flashpoint storyline was already expected to introduce a totally different timeline. Comicbook fans already know that Flashpoint explores an alternate timeline where young Bruce Wayne is killed in the attack outside the theatre and his parents survive. Thomas becomes Batman while Martha turns in The Joker.

Ezra Miller already spoke about his excitement over the potental to play with alternate versions of classic characters, but now it seems Wonder Woman might steal his thunder.

Randolph says she has even heard what Diana Prince will do back in 1984 to make such a huge change to the future –  and it is all for love.

Randolph says: “Diana, like all of us, isn’t willing to let Steve go a second time, saves him and therefore alters the timeline. She saves Steve Trevor and reboots the EU? I think you can see who WB loves right now.

“While apparently Margot Robbie will stick around and I guess Shazam, too, this will usher in the casting changes we all expected for Flashpoint. When Flashpoint happens in Wonder Woman 1984 there will be significant changes in the movies.”

Cavill is already rumoured to be done as Superman and is currently focussed on the new Witcher TV show. Affleck, meanwhile is rumoured daily to be in or out as Batman.

With much of the principal photography already completed on WW 1984, there can only be very serious reasons why the movie is being pushed back so many months. The first Wonder Woman film was such a universal fan, critic and box office relief after the very mixed receptions for the previous DCEU releases, fans will desperately hoping that the Amazonian hero will not stumble when her sequel finally hits screens.
