Keanu Reeves: ‘I would LOVE to play Wolverine’ after Hugh Jackman

The 54-year-old returns next year for John Wick 3: Parabellum, but he’s always had his eye on comic book characters Wolverine and Batman. However, when he last made this known Hugh Jackman and Ben Affleck were still in those roles. But now with news of their departure – even if the latter’s is still up in the air – Reeves has made it clear he wants Wolverine. Speaking with Screen Geek, he said: “Of the two, I’d love to play Wolverine.”

If Reeves were to win the role of Wolverine, it would be an incarnation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Disney’s acquisition of Fox.

Boss Logic’s even done a mock-up of him as the mutant, complete with smoking cigar.

Back in July Reeves revealed John Wick 3’s title was Parabellum, which he explained.

He revealed: “Prepare for war. It’s part of that famous sentence, “Si vis pacem, para bellum,” which translates as, “If you want peace, prepare for war.”

Parabellum is also a type of semi-automatic pistol or machine gun, which could appear in John Wick 3.

He also teased the plot and Halle Berry’s character’s involvement, adding: “Yeah, John Wick is fighting for his life and thinks that Halle Berry’s character has some information for him.

“They have a past, and they get involved with The High Table, this kind of overlording entity.”

Last year Express.co.uk interviewed John Wick director Chad Stahelski, who teased the plot of Chapter 3 and the franchise’s future.

He said: “It’s going to be a good way to wrap up what has become something of a trilogy.

“Without giving too much away, there’s a reason we named it chapters instead of part one, two and three.”

John Wick: Parabellum is released in UK cinemas on May 17, 2019.
