The 59-year-old is touring the US and Canada ahead of his new cover album California Son’s release in May. In fact, tonight was supposed to kick off his first Canadian tour in almost two decades, but Morrissey has had to cancel two 2019 tour dates after a “medical emergency” caused while travelling. The former Smiths’ frontman was set to perform at Vancouver’s The Orpheum tonight and tomorrow, but now those dates have been pushed back to October 14 and 15. According to NME, a statement from Ticketmaster claims the medical emergency took place in Europe.

He had an accident whilst travelling in Europe but is making a speedy recovering. The tour will now commence in Toronto on Friday, April 26, with all future dates going ahead as planned including Montreal and al 7 sold out NYC Broadway shows.”

The statement reads: “Due to a medical emergency stemming from an accident incurred while travelling in Europe, Morrissey will be forced to postpone his performances in Vancouver to October 14th and 15th, 2019.

“Spirits are high and the artist is on the path to a swift recovery. All tickets will be valid for the new date and exchanges will not be necessary. Thank you for your understanding.

Morrissey looks forward to making his long-awaited return to the city and wishes to deeply thank everyone for their patience.

“All remaining dates on Morrissey’s tour will resume as planned, commencing in Toronto on Friday, Apr 26.”

Gigs and Tours said: “Due to logistical problems beyond our control, the UK/European Morrissey concerts scheduled for July will be postponed.

“We deeply regret any inconvenience to the fans and promise to reschedule UK and European dates as soon as possible.

“All original purchasers from official ticket outlets will have the full ticket fee refunded including booking fee to their credit/debit cards.

“Refunds from ticket agents will be actioned from midday on Monday, July 2.”
