UK weather forecast: Tropical blast to bring 80F HEATWAVE – ‘Flaming June’ finally here

Clear skies and sunshine will push temperatures into the high-70Fs through the start of next week with warm air from France pushing a possible 80F by mid-week. High pressure, responsible for clear skies and sunshine during the summer months, will rebuild brining an end to the early summer washout. The best of the weather will be across southern and south-eastern England with Scotland and the north likely to be cooler with a risk of further showers, experts say.

However muggy heat will set off explosive thunderstorms although forecasters promise the UK will be spared a repeat of the recent drenching.

The mercury will start to rise on Sunday before peaking around Tuesday or Wednesday with a risk of further showers through the next couple of days.

Britons have been urged to make the most of the hot weather with a return to more changeable conditions forecast later next week.

Met Office spokesman Grahame Madge said: “We are expecting to see high pressure rebuild during the early part of next week and we expect to see temperatures possibly hitting the mid-20Cs or even higher by the middle of the week.

“This is most likely across the south and east of the country as we have warm air coming up from the Continent where temperatures are going to get into the 30Cs.

“However this is going to be short-lived, beyond Wednesday it is going to turn more changeable, but the pattern of almost incessant rain is going to come to an end.

“There is some more rain forecast over the next few days but it is going to be nothing like what we have seen through this week.

“Temperatures will rise everywhere by Wednesday, however it will be more noticeable in the south and the southeast.”

It comes after a week of heavy downpours saw more than two months’ rain fall in a matter of days in parts of the country.

Showers will persist through tomorrow although things will start to brighten up by Sunday and into the start of next week.

While the next warm spell is only likely to last a couple of days, some experts reckon it will be a taste of things to come thought the rest of this week.

Exacta Weather’s James Madden said: “Despite the abysmal start to summer, this weekend and beyond is set to bring some significant changes to our weather as high pressure finally starts to dominate.

“Maximum temperatures could jump into the mid to high-20Cs (80F) at the very least across the southern half of the country while the north can expect to see temperatures in the low to mid-20Cs in the best of the sunshine.

“It is worth noting there will be some sporadic showery or thundery activity during this time.

“This weekend will lead into what is expected to be a much drier and warmer scenario with better weather on the horizon through the coming weeks, a flaming June is still on the cards.”

Warm weather next week will bring volatile atmospheric conditions leading to explosive thunderstorms.

Mr Madge said: “Sunday doesn’t look bad at all although there will be some showers developing and some of these could be convective in nature leading to thunder.

“Otherwise it will be a case of sunshine and showers for most through the weekend and into the start of next week.”

Forecasters agree temperatures will reach a crescendo towards the middle of next week after a slow burn over the next couple of days.

Warm air will start to arrive from northern France through the latter part of the weekend as high pressure starts to build.

A meteorologist for The Weather Company said: “Conditions will improve, remaining unsettled but with lighter winds, less rainfall and temperatures recovering to around normal for the time of year in a south-westerly airflow.

“Next week, temperatures will lift into the low 20Cs with a few more breaks in the cloud, especially in the southeast, but otherwise it will still be mostly cloudy with scattered showers.

“These will be heaviest in the afternoons over Scotland.

“Temperatures will peak mid-week, with thunder likely in central and southern England on Wednesday.

“Maximum temperatures over the period will be from 14C (57.2F) to 20C (68F) in the North and 14C (57.2F) to 24C (75.2F) in the South.

Warmth will be driven by balmy, tropical air as it floods into Britain from the north Continent, according to Met Office meteorologist Bonnie Diamond.

She said: “High pressure to the south of the country will bring warm air in from France and the north Continent this weekend.

“There will be a bit of a nationwide split with the more settled, drier and warmer conditions across the south.

“It is going to feel warm in the sunshine with temperatures back to average or slightly above average for the time of year.

“By Sunday we are expecting temperatures in the low 20Cs and in the southeast, at a push we could see 25C (77F).”
