Kate Middleton married Prince William, 36, at Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011. Since then, they have had three children, Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, four, and Prince Louis, one. As Prince William is second in line to the British throne, Kate has a very important role in the Royal Family and it is likely she will one day be Queen Consort. A look at Kate’s fashion choices since becoming a royal could reveal the awareness of her responsibility and also how she approaches life as a royal, an expert revealed.

The Duchess of Cambridge is in a powerful position and her fashion choices suggest she knows this, Natasha Henson, British Style Society editor revealed.

Natasha told Express.co.uk: “Kate’s style has changed dramatically over the years, however, it has become more refined with the type of duties she now has to perform as a royal.

“Kate appears to have understated confidence in her style choices and chooses pieces that represent her position as a positive role model.

“She also isn’t afraid to re-wear statement pieces with a recent Alexander McQueen favourite making another appearance at the recent opening of V&A Dundee.”

The Duchess is aware many people may look to her for tips and she is not afraid to re-wear her favourite outfits.

As well as recycling her clothes, Kate appears to be mindful of her influence as she often picks affordable high street designs to wear.

“When sporting the latest collections, her public appearances have sparked buying frenzies with pieces selling out within hours,” Natasha said.

“The best thing about Kate’s looks is that they are often accessible to all.

“Whether you shop designer or high street, the Duchess shows us how easy refined style can be achieved whatever your budget.”

As well as a role as a royal, Kate’s fashion choices reflect how important being a mum is to her.

Natasha told Express.co.uk: “Kate often opts for comfortable yet stylish casual attire to fit her role as a young royal and a hands-on mother.

“These elements may indicate that although she is a prominent public figure, she still likes to feel relaxed yet fashionable whether she’s attending an event or enjoying a family day out.”

Recently, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a casual look as she attended a walkabout in Keswick town centre during a visit to Cumbria.

She wore a khaki jacket, a green jumper and a shirt with a ruffled collar beneath.

The royal was also spotted wearing a recycled outfit from 2016 as she wore a Barbara Casasola dress, which costs £1580.
