Washington shooting: One dead as multiple people shot in horror US capital attack

According to local police, five other people have been shot. Local police have reported that at least two people are in critical condition. Moreover, as reported by US journalist, Steve Herman, the attack occurred just 3.5km (2.1 miles) from the White House.

There have been no reports on suspects.

It has not been confirmed if there are any more casualties.

In a statement, Commander Stuart Emerman said: “Untis responded to the scene where we found six individuals with gunshot wounds. 

“One of those has been pronoucned deceased. 

“The other victims have been transported to various other hospitals where the wounds range from critical to non-critical.”

Moreover, Allison Papson of Fox 5 DC news had reported earlier that one adult male was “conscious and breathing”.

Another male, was “unconscious and not breathing” while an adult “female is conscious and breathing”.

Ms Papson also reported that “homicide has been called”.

The journalist also revealed that the attack occurred on the 1400 Rhode Island Avenue NE at 10.22pm local time (3.22am BST).

Local police have confirmed that the victims have all been transported to local hospitals.

Despite Ms Papson reports, Washington DC Police have confirmed that the shooting took place on the busy 1300 block of Columbia Road NW.

Driver and pedestrians have been advised to expect closures in the local area.

Mr Emerman also confirmed that detectives were continuing to work on the scene for any information on the attack.

He also added that the attack occurred outside in a “courtyard area”.

The commander also revealed that five of the victims were male.

The shooting in the US capital follows after a horrific attack in Odessa, Texas earlier this month.

Seven people were killed in the horrific attack while a furhter 22 were injured.

The Odessa Police Department named the gunmen as Seth, Ator, 36.

After trying to evade police, Ator was killed in a shootout in a cinema carpark.
