In 2005, Sara founded Crafter’s Companion – a crafter’s supply company – while at university.

During a placement at a small craft company she spotted a gap in the market for a tool that could create bespoke envelopes for handmade cards

With help from her retired engineer father, she designed a product called The Enveloper which she launched on the TV shopping channel Ideal World, selling 30,000 units within six months.

By the time she graduated, the business was turning over £500,000.

In 2015, the business woman hosted Local Television Limited’s craft show, Be Creative.

In April, she joined BBC Two’s Dragons’ Den as the show’s youngest ever investor.

Speaking to the BBC, she said: “I’ve been a fan of the show since it started. I was even invited to pitch on the show 13 years ago, so it feels like I’ve come a full circle.”

Speaking to the Mirror, she said: “Just because I’m a lot wealthier now doesn’t mean I want my kids to grow up differently to how I did.

“I worked in my parents’ decorating store from six. My mum would get me in every Saturday polishing the paint and straightening the wallpaper for 50p.

“My five-year-old son will help out at the shop, which my sister owns, and she’ll have him doing the same thing that I was back then.

“With a bit of inflation he will get a couple of quid. My boys can negotiate much better than I can.”
