James Bond 25: Details FINALLY revealed about new Bond girl Ana De Armas' character
James Bond 25 is slated to introduce a new wave of Bond Girls, with their role in the movie worthy of women in film in 2020. Having brought Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge in to “tweak” the No Time To Die script, Daniel Craig is said to want to drag Bond into the 21st century this time around. But who will his Knives Out co-star Ana De Armas be playing? And what will her impact on 007’s mission be?
In a new interview with the LA Times, De Armas finally gave clues about her character, Paloma, saying that, while the franchise’s previous Bond girls hadn’t felt related to her, she found this one felt real.
“I wouldn’t say she’s ordinary, because when she needs to perform her job, she does,” De Armas said. “But [she] is flawed.
“She says what she feels, she’s nervous, she’s scared,” she teased. “It’s human.
“When I read it [the script], I was like, ‘Oh, wait — I can be a Bond girl. I’m that. I’m that messy.”

“That’s what felt so attractive, on top of what she’s actually doing in the story,” the actress added. “Which is another step toward giving women a more powerful and strong place in the films.”
The No Time To Die star also revealed director Cary Joji Fukunaga called her up to give her the job before the part even existed, having known her from a previous project which never came to fruition.
“He said, ‘Part of the movie takes place in Cuba. This role doesn’t exist, but I think I’m going to write something for you. Do you want it?’” she recalled.
Between a custom-written part and Waller-Bridge being in charge of the dialogue, De Armas was naturally instantly keen.
“I was like, ‘Aaaaah! Of course,’” she said. “And then I was like, ‘Wait — I’d like to read it first.’”
These are the some of the only few details known about De Areas’ Bond character Paloma, while her relationship with Craig’s 007 is still being kept tightly under wraps.
The actress previously let slip a hint about where the plot might take her character, telling C Magazine: “I’ve never done an action movie and I must have underestimated what these kinds of movies are, but I must say I’m really impressed.”
De Armas went on to imply Paloma might be responsible for “killing people” in No Time To Die, adding: “Man, it’s really hard, training, to stay true to the kind of movie, to the tone.

“Everything takes so long, so your energy level, when you’re waiting, goes down. And then you’re suddenly on set and you have to start killing people or kicking people. And it’s in high heels!” she added.
While little has been revealed about the story of the upcoming movie, which will be Craig’s last as Bond, the synopsis reveals 007 begins the film retired from active service and living a quiet life in Jamaica.
However, the peace and tranquility doesn’t last long, as his old friend Felix Leiter (played by Jeffrey Wright) shows up to ask for his help rescuing a kidnapped scientist.
The mission leads Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with a dangerous new technology.
