Wayne Rooney net worth: Football ace is has a fortune of THIS much money
A top earner in football for many years, it is no surprise that Wayne Rooney, 31, is sitting on a considerable fortune.
Forbes have stated he has been among the top 10 highest-earning football players every year for the last decade.
Rooney returned to Everton, hit first club, for the 2017-2018 after 13 years at Manchester United. Everton is also the club he has supported since his was a child, and the first team he played for professionally as an adult.
He was also England captain until recently, and has said he plans to retire after the 2018 World Cup.
Endorsement deals include lucrative contracts with Nike and Electronic Arts, the computer gaming company worth £4.6million.
Other than personal property, his business deals and investments – if there are any – are not well known.
Forbes reports Rooney earned £18.2million this year, and according to Goal, his total net worth is £100million.
He had the potential to significantly increase this with a move to the Chinese Super League which was on offer last year, but he turned it down to remain in the UK.
Wayne Rooney may have a sizeable fortune, but his net worth is dwarfed by that of Cristiano Ronaldo, 32.
The Real Madrid player earns a very generous £30.8million ($40million) salary a year.
He has played professionally since his teenage years, commanding a high salary from the beginning.
The then Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson saw Ronaldo play in 2003 and signed him to the club, making him the first Portuguese player to join the team.
His first contract was for one year, and he commanded £9.5million ($12.24million).
But it is off the pitch that Ronaldo has managed to really bump up his already considerable fortune.
In November 2016, it was announced he had signed a $1billion (£772million) lifetime contract with Nike.
All of his endorsements and deals add up to a massive total fortune.
