James Bond: No Time To Die test screening went ‘BADLY’ but delay allows for ‘reshoots’

Last week, new movie was delayed all the way back until November. While the official statement from 007 producers and studios did not mention coronavirus, the financial implications of the illness on audiences struggling to go to the cinema due to quarantine in countries like China appears to have been implied. Nevertheless, an alleged leak – which should be taken with a pinch of salt – claims the delay also allows for reshoots following a supposedly poor test screening of the movie.

This comes from Film discussion YouTube Channel Midnight’s Edge, who claim: “Sources have informed Midnight’s Edge that a recent test screening of No Time To Die did not go well.

“Though we don’t have any specifics about what was ill-received by test audiences, we are being told they are scheduling two pieces of reshoots to last 12 to 14 days.

“And that they are using the outbreak as cover to avoid bad publicity.

“With a very public and problematic history of the film, it would be very easy to believe that an extensive delay would be more than likely due to issues with the film itself than the current global health threat.”

They added: “Midnight’s Edge would not insinuate that MGM, United Artists, Annapurna, and Universal would do something as nefarious as to use a global outbreak to cover themselves.”

Express.co.uk has contacted EON Productions for comment.

It would be particularly interesting if reshoots do end up taking place for No Time To Die when the movie was set for release as soon as April 2.

Meanwhile, fans have speculated the delay to No Time To Die could also have had a plot involving a virus.

If Bond villain Safin’s plan was to infect the world with one, such a narrative could be seen as insensitive if released on the original date.

Meanwhile, another alleged leak from The Sun’s insider claimed Craig may be open to a sixth Bond movie after No Time To Die.

This would be quite the surprise considering how often the 52-year-old has said it really is his last one.

And interestingly, on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, he did reaffirm this.

Of course, some Bond fans are wondering if Craig’s Bond will kick the bucket after No Time To Die.

This would prove particularly controversial considering 007 has never properly perished in an official movie.

But maybe the latest incarnation will finally break the mould.

After all, in the last three years both Wolverine and Iron Man met their end in Hugh Jackman and Robert Downey Jr’s last films across major franchises.

No Time To Die’s synopsis reads: “Five years after the capture of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, James Bond has left active service.

“He is approached by Felix Leiter, his friend and a CIA officer, who enlists his help in the search for Valdo Obruchev, a missing scientist.

“When it becomes apparent that Obruchev was abducted, Bond must confront a danger the likes of which the world has never seen before.”

No Time To Die is released in UK cinemas on November 12, 2020.
