James Bond insiders reveal No Time To Die release DOUBTS plus truth on reshoots

Earlier this month, Daniel Craig’s final movie saw its release date shifted to November 12 from April 2. The blockbuster was the first of many to shift or be postponed indefinitely in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, rumours spread that the 007 movie shifted to allow reshoots following an allegedly poor test screening.

But now Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, who has proven reliable Bond sources, has shut down rumours that No Time To Die is unfinished.

A source said: “As with all films of this size there are things that you come across that might require a bit of re-shooting — but not here.

“It was finished. Perhaps there might have been a little spot of ADR [the industry term for rerecording dialogue].

“But if it does need it, then that can be achieved quickly, as soon as the restrictions are lifted.”

Nevertheless, Baz pointed out that even insiders are unsure of the new November release date for No Time To Die.

He wrote: “The big question no one can answer right now is whether come November, audiences will be comfortable going into crowded cinemas and theatres.”

The journalist also pointed out how difficult it could be to have the stars like Craig fly around the world to promote the movie with coronavirus checks in operation.

As Express.co.uk pointed out this week, it shouldn’t be ruled out that No Time To Die’s release date is moved for a fifth time to 2021.

Just this week, June releases like Wonder Woman 1984 were moved to August.

This would suggest Hollywood is hoping for cinemas to reopen in the mid to late summer.

There was also a brief sigh of relief when Chinese cinemas were beginning to reopen this week.

However, today industry outlets reported that the government was reclosing them out of fear for a second coronavirus wave.

Additionally, the UK government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) has stated that social distancing measures could be in place for a year.

And with a second wave possible during flu season (October-March), this could keep British cinemas closed for longer than expected.

If this were the case, perhaps moving No Time To Die a full year to April 2021 may be the best game plan for 007 producers.

While another option is to put it up for rent on streaming services at a cinema price.

This was a move made by the last films to show in cinemas before their closure, which didn’t see their full run.

Movies like Bloodshot, Onward, Military Wives and Emma are among them.

Although, being as traditional as EON productions is and the multi-million box office stakes at play, it would seem unlikely they would do this with Bond.

No Time To Die is released in UK cinemas on November 12, 2020.
