Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio: Throwback pictures of first show age 20

Alessandra Ambrosio is a Brazilian model famous for being a Victoria’s Secret Angel. 

Models who work for the brand are supposed to represent the most beautiful women on the planet.

While Ambrosio has worked for Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein, Christian Dior and Fendi – to name but a few – she is perhaps most famous for wearing lingerie on Victoria’s Secret catwalk.

In 2012, the model was ranked number six on Forbes’ list of the highest-paid models.

She was estimated to have earned $6.6 million (£4,969,800) in that year alone.

The 5ft 9 brunette, who has two children with her partner Jamie Mazur, has racked up a number of career milestones at the lingerie company.

In 2005, she walked the catwalk wearing lingerie made entirely out of edible sweets.

In 2011 she walked the show while pregnant with her second child and wearing the heaviest wings the brand had ever made. The wings were a whopping 30lbs. 

Ambrosio wore the “Fantasy Bra” in 2012, an honour bestowed upon only the best Victoria Secret models.

The bra was floral themed and had amethysts, rubies, sapphires and diamonds (including a 20-carat white diamond in the centre). It reportedly cost $2.5m. 

Then in 2014 she and fellow angel Adriana Lima both wore fantasy bras, which each cost $2.5m, and walked the catwalk in them together.

Ambrosio’s career with Victoria Secret began in 2001 when she first walked the catwalk show age 20.

She appeared in the show the years after and was the first spokesmodel for the Victoria’s Secret PINK diffusion line.

Ambrosio’s fellow angel Adriana Lima has also had a long career with the brand. 

She is one of the world’s best-paid models, and in 2016 she was reported to earn $10.5 million, or £7.9m, the second highest model pay packet.

The divorced mother-of-two walked for the lingerie brand for 16 years.
