Zverev has been handed a bye in the first round of the Indian Wells as he enters the competition as a seeded player.

The world No 4 has been dealt a difficult drawn being placed in the same half as Marin Cilic, Novak Djokovic and Kevin Anderson.

However, the German still feels he has enough ability to battle it out with the best to get his 2018 season up and running.

Zverev will enter the California-based event full of confidence after reaching the semi-final of the Mexican Open, where he lost out to eventual champion Juan Martin del Potro.

“It all depends on my game,” Zverev told ATP World Tour.

“I don’t think it depends on what I’ve done last year, it’s more about how I play and I real feel good on court in the practice.

“I really feel like I can compete with anybody.”

When asked if he feels being seeded still comes with its own advantages after being dealt a difficult draw, Zverev replied: “I think they still do.

“It shows how you’ve played over the last 12 months.

“A few players have been a little bit injured but overall I feel good about myself and hopefully i can start the tournament good.”

Zverev is also looking forward to getting out on court in one of his favourite events.

“It’s a great tournament,” he added.

“There’s a reason why it’s been voted one of the best Masters for so many years.

“Obviously all the players enjoy it. There are so many courts and practice courts – the facilities are great.”
