The move for Zaha is a bid to revamp the squad with predominantly young British players.

Against Valencia in midweek, Arsenal had just one British player in the side – Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

According to The Sun, Zaha is top of Arsenal’s wish list, and they’re also looking to add Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser.

The Scottish winger would not qualify for the Premier League’s ‘homegrown’ quota, but he has been playing in England for the last seven years.

Zaha, who plays for Ivory Coast internationally, is considered homegrown.

Emery’s spending budget depends on where they finish in the Premier League and whether they can win the Euorpa League or not.

Arsenal were linked with an abundance of players back in January but they only managed to sign Barcelona man Denis Suarez on loan.

Emery stated in the winter transfer window that the club would not be able to spend big until the summer.

The Gunners were linked with Yannick Carrasco and Ivan Perisic a few months back but it seems unlikely they rekindle their interest for the two attackers in the summer.

Arsenal are in danger of missing out on next season’s Champions League with their top four destiny in other teams’ hands with just two games to play.

If they miss out out through league position, they have the fallback option of trying to win the Europa League.

They have one foot in the final of their first European final since 2006, having beaten Valencia 3-1 in the first leg of their last four tie.

Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsey will leave the club in the summer for Italian champions Juventus.

Fellow homegrown talent Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all left Arsenal in the last couple of years.

If the club miss out on Champions League qualification, they could have just £40m to spend in the summer.
