Avengers Endgame: Captain America CAN return? Bucky star Sebastian Stan drops hint

WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Avengers Endgame.

Last month’s all-star Marvel blockbuster ended with Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, travelling back through time to return all of the Infinity Stones.

But instead of coming back to the ‘present day’ – 2023, in this case – he decided to remain in the past and have the life with Peggy Carter that he always wanted.

Is that really the end of Steve’s story?

Well, it’s certainly appeared so: for one thing, Evans has made no secret of the fact that his Marvel contract is over.

The writers and directors, too, have said they think the actor is “done” with the role after such a successful tenure.

But now Sebastian Stan – who plays Bucky Barnes – has said he’s not so sure.

“You see when we were filming the movie, I didn’t know I was going to be apparently filming it for the last time with them,” he said at an Italian convention, according to Comicbook.com.

“I think it’s difficult to… I don’t know if it’s goodbye to Steve yet.

“I don’t know, you know? I wonder about that.”

If someone with such close ties to Steve’s character isn’t completely convinced that he’s gone, it’d be understandable for fans to now cling to some hope.

But unfortunately most signs do point to Cap having made his final MCU appearance.

Earlier this month, the Russo brothers said fairly definitively that the Hollywood star has “closed the door” on his time with the studio.

“No, I think Chris — Chris is a very emotional person,” they began, according to Cinema Blend.

“I think maybe it’s evident if you follow him on Twitter, because he does put his heart into what he says.

“But I feel like he has to close the door on things and emotionally move onto the next thing.”
