Avengers Endgame: Robert Downey Jr makes HUGE Iron Man confession
Avengers: Endgame took the world of Marvel fans by storm last year when it brought the climactic conclusion to the Avengers’ battle against Thanos (played by Josh Brolin) to the big screen. The superhero epic made over $2.8 billion at the box office and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects. Endgame also marked the end of Iron Man’s (Robert Downey Jr.) story when he sacrificed himself to defeat the Mad Titan.
In the final fight against Thanos, all the Avengers came together in a bid to save the 50 per cent of the universe’s population wiped out by The Snap.
But it was Iron Man who ultimately managed to get the Infinity Stones and put them into his own version of the Infinity Gauntlet, snapping Thanos out of existence.
The power of the Stones was too much even for his suit to keep at bay and, after saving millions of lives, he died in a heartbreaking scene, surrounded by protégé Spider-Man, Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and his friends.
Despite his incredible legacy as one of the most beloved Marvel superheroes, Downey Jr has made a big admission regarding his feelings about his character and others.

The actor revealed he actually wanted to play a different superhero as a child.
In an interview with BBC Radio 1, he answered questions sent in by kids, with one asking: “If you hadn’t been Iron Man, which superhero would you want to be?”
“I can’t think of any red-blooded American boy that didn’t imagine themselves as Spider-Man growing up,” Downey Jr said.
But it’s not just Spider-Man who the Avengers star has eyes for in addition to Iron Man.
While Iron Man did die in Endgame, some fans have speculated it might not be the last time he appears in the MCU.
Doing nothing to dispel rumours, Downey Jr. teased the possibility of returning down the line in a recent interview with Extra TV.
“Anything could happen,” he hinted. “As far as I’m concerned, I hung up my guns and I’m good to let it go.
“I also think that Marvel is on this journey now, they’re trying a bunch of other stuff and you know, I’m excited for them to see how all that goes.
