Avengers Endgame WILL top Avatar as highest-grossing movie EVER after sinking Titanic

In fact, Avengers Endgame – which is currently on $2.188 billion worldwide – topped Titanic as the second biggest movie ever by a million this weekend.

The Marvel epic is now only $600 million away from beating Avatar’s record as the highest-grossing movie of all time.

And according to box office analyst Wade Holden, Avengers Endgame will manage this.

After all, the film has barely been out and could presumably be the first $3 billion movie ever.

Both Titanic and Avatar are directed by James Cameron, who has been critical of the MCU movies in the past.

Just before Avengers Infinity War hit cinemas last year, the filmmaker said: “I’m hoping we’ll start getting Avenger fatigue here pretty soon.

“It’s just, come on guys, there are other stories to tell besides hypergonadal males [men who produce too much testosterone] without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process. It’s like, oy!” Not that I don’t love the (Avengers) movies.”

Cameron is currently working on his four Avatar sequels, with the first due in cinemas for Christmas 2020.

The films are made by 20th Century Fox, which was recently acquired by Disney.

This means the studio now owns both the rights to Avatar and Marvel.
