Avengers Infinity War deaths: Did [SPOILER] die or not? Marvel has a Star Wars moment

A lot happens in Avengers 3.

Never have so many major characters been gathered into one epic blockbusting story and never have so many been killed. 

Most of them were killed in two very clear ways, a couple more died ‘off camera’ but the blood splatters and crunches made their fate painfully clear. Only one was left hanging, literally.

Yes, Thanos demands our silence so do not read on if you haven’t seen Infinity War yet.

WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS AND FULL GALLERY OF EVERY CHARACTER WHO DIES

Thanos wreaks terrible destruction across the universe throughout the movie.

From the shocking deaths in the opening scene on board the Asgardian ship to the final cataclysmic Snap, he takes countless lives, including major superheroes.

However, his own forces also pay a terrible price and the Black Order is decimated by the end of the movie.

Proxima Midnight, Cull Obsidian and Corvus Glaive are all killed in the Battle of Wakanda but what about Ebony Maw? Did we see him die or not?

Ebony Maw is torturing Doctor Strange on board his ship when Spider-Man and Iron Man come to the rescue.

The dramatic scene is action-packed and a ittle hard to follow.

After Spidey makes a pop culture Alien movie references his webs hurl a heavy object at the hull, creating a hole and a vacuum. The unsuspecting Maw is sucked out into space.

This should kill him, right? Except…

Maw is shown floating apparently lifeless in the classic sci-fi stye as his face ices over.

Except he is an unimaginably powerful sorcerer. Except we have seen (demi-god) Peter Quill survive the same. Except we have seen full god Thor survive the same. Except we can’t help thinking of Star Wars.

Yes, it is one of the most controversial moments of a controversial movie, but General Leia used her powers to survive a similar fate.

While early fan reactions think Maw is dead, a few are not so sure.

One said: “The Avengers really f***ed up Thanos’s Black Order. Like they were a bunch of bums. Dead every single one of them.”

Another said: “I’m just glad Ebony Maw is dead. Got on my damn nerves>”

One added: “The black order died so easily.”

But one fan wasn’t so sure: “I still feel like they’re not dead.”

Most importantly, never accept a comicbook character is dead until you see the proof with your own eyes. Except, well, forget that because death is never final in the Marvel and DC universes.
