Brigitte Macron matches with husband Emmanuel in navy to meet Senegalese President
Brigitte Macron, 64, and Emmanuel Macron, 40, were all smiles as they touched down in Saint Louis yesterday.
During the French couple’s visit, President Macron pledged 15 million euros (around £13 million) for the UNESCO World Heritage site which is treated by coastal erosion from the Atlantic Ocean.
The money will top up a 24 million euro package from the World Bank.
Macron also pledged 25 million euros to preserve and renovate local landmarks, including the cathedral and colonial-era mansions.
Thousands of spectators gathered for the arrival of the French president and his wife, who flew in to the city from the capital Dakar, with Present Sall ad his spouse.
Brigitte chose to wear a navy suit for the occasion – the same colour her husband was wearing.
Her navy suit trousers showcased her slim legs and a navy blazer reached down to the top of her thigh.
She polished off the look by wearing a white blouse underneath, black heeled ankle boots and a navy mac.
At points throughout the day, when Brigitte felt cold, she wrapped up in a navy and white print scarf.
Brigitte has been on a tour in Africa this week without her husband.
Among the places she visited were Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, and the island of Goree, which was once a west African slaving post.
As she met with children and school officials in Goree, Brigitte showed off her French style.
