Change UK humiliated: Remainer party sacks all staff bar ONE after abysmal EU election
Party bosses said that the group, which is now called The Independent Group for Change, had undergone “restructuring” and now only employs one member of staff, compared to the ten they used to have, according to The Sunday Telegraph. Some of the party’s 11 MPs abandoned the group after the party’s shocking results in the European elections in May where not a single one of the party’s candidates was elected. Heidi Allen, Luciana Berger, Gavin Shuker and Angela Smith broke away to form a new co-operative called The Independents.
Chuka Umunna also left the party to join the Liberal Democrats.
Sarah Wollaston also left the party to become an independent MP, while Anna Soubry took over as The Independent group’s leader.
The party was forced to change its name after a dispute with Change.org.
Ms Soubry, who was formally a member of the Conservative Party, said the party had “not been structured and organised as it should have been” before she replaced Ms Allen as leader.

She said: “We’ve had a restructuring.
“Every party gears up for an election and we had to gear up very, very quickly for the EU elections.
“Now that the EU elections are over and the expenses and all the other washing up processes that have to be gone through have been gone through, and we are now five, we don’t need as many staff as we needed.
“All our staff are on very short contracts, all aware of why they were taken on and what the job was, and we will carry on.”
However, Ms Soubry also denied the decision to cut staff was a financial move.
She said: “I know how much money we’ve got and I’m not prepared to share it with you for obvious reasons.
“We are doing things in a way that makes sure we use the generous donations of our donors to the most effect.
“Obviously we could always do with more money, who couldn’t? Because there might be a General Election in October, so it’s absolutely critical that we’ve got the funds that we would need in that event.”
She also added that the group intend to hire two new members of staff this week.
