Chelsea news: Man Utd told to sell these TWO players to fund N'Golo Kante January move

That is the opinion of former Liverpool and Wales centre-forward Dean Saunders.

Kante has been played slightly out of position at Chelsea this season under Maurizio Sarri.

The Frenchman has had several seasons of success as a holding midfielder for club and country.

However, Sarri has played Kante on the right of a midfield three, with summer-signing Jorginho in the middle.

Saunders reckons there could be a chance of prising Kante away from Stamford Bridge next month.

The talkSPORT pundit claims the signing of Kante would help Manchester United midfielders Paul Pogba and Fred flourish.

Saunders said that he would sell Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera to fund a deal.

But he admits it is a difficult situation for new United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“For me, if they sign one player that would make a big difference to the whole defence,” Saunders said.

“N’Golo Kante – there might be a chance of getting him out of Chelsea.

“It’s looking like it’s a bit rocky for him, Maurizio Sarri has come out and said he can’t play in the holding role.

“He would give Paul Pogba and Fred a chance to get forward in midfield, and I’d get rid of Matic and Herrera.

“But this is the problem for Solskjaer – because that’s what’s needed, but he can’t do all that as interim manager.”

Kante has played 110 games in all competitions for Chelsea since joining from Leicester in 2016.

He has scored five goals and won both the Premier League and FA Cup.
