Crown Princess Mary turns heads in toffee dress but blazer divides opinions – 'ruined'
Crown Princess Mary, who currently stands as President of the WWF World Nature Foundation, stepped out at Scandinavia House to attend a UN meeting working towards eliminating plastic pollution. She wore a gorgeous dress and a blazer that caused some controversy.
The royal looked stunning in the Jonathan Simkai Pricilla Printed Sleeveless V-Neck Ruched Dress. It appeared to be a new purchase.
The colour of the dress is described as a glorious “toffee palm”.
Jonathan Simkai provides “luxury ready-to-wear for the modern woman”.
The dress was floaty, with a deep V-neckline and ruching around the shoulders.
It was also gathered at the waist to add some dimension and accentuate the slim royal’s figure.
The dress had an asymmetrical hemline and was a little longer at the back.
While the colours were autumnal, the palm leaf print gave off a more summery feel.
She carried the Saffiano Cuir Double Bag in Tan from Prada, draping her black blazer over it, opting to wear it later on.
The Crown Princess paired the look with a trusty pair of Valentino shoes.
These were the Rockstud Black Leather Pumps, which are currently unavailable online.
However, the collection of “rockstud” pumps is described on the official Valentino website as follows: “An iconic Maison code forged from Roman architecture.
“The Valentino Garavani Rockstud motif decorates a selection of leather shoes, uniting history with modern attitude.”
The Crown Princess paired the ensemble with some very chic accessories, including Thierry Lasry’s Frivolity Sunglasses in Militant Green and Yellow.
She wore a pair of simple gold hoop earrings, the Boucle Ensemble Earrings by Sophie Bille Brahe.
She wore gold bracelets on each wrist, the Cuff Gold Bracelet by Rebekka Notkin and the Vega Bracelet in Gold Dulong Fine Jewellery.
Like Kate Middleton, who the Crown Princess is often compared to style-wise, Mary wore her long brown hair down.
As for makeup, the Crown Princess kept it dewy and youthful, with a sweep of blush across her cheeks and some dark eyeliner.
Royal fans were mesmerised by the royal’s latest look and took to social media to praise her.
Instagram user @luxmeagainpreloved stated: “This is a beautiful and versatile look on Mary.”
@isabelq42 added: “She looks fantastic. Love the whole look. Just so classic yet chic.”
However, some were less than impressed with her choice of jacket.
@rachelhlhannam said: “Love the dress but it’s instantly ruined when she puts the jacket on. The jacket is too dark, heavy and long in my opinion.”
@martina_schippers commented: “Nice dress, it suits her. I don’t understand the shoes, completely different styles.
“The blazer is also a very strange choice for the dress. The colour, the fit, the length. She completely ruined the dress with that blazer.”
