Ghostbusters 3 Afterlife TRAILER: Paul Rudd takes on Zuul in mysterious teaser – WATCH
Three decades after Ghostbusters 2 and an official third film – separate to the 2016 genderswap outing – has finally landed. Set in Oklahoma, Ghostbusters: Afterlife features a family somehow related to the original team, as they take on what appears to be local supernatural events.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe.
“In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.
“The film is written by Jason Reitman & Gil Kenan.”
Paul Rudd stars as Mr Grooberson, who appears to be facing Zuul – a demon dog that possessed Sigourney Weaver’s Dana Barrett in the first film.

Speaking of original characters, Weaver is returning as Dana alongside surviving Ghostbusters Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.
By the look of the trailer, we reckon Murray’s Dr Peter Venkman is the grandfather of the two kids.
Sadly, Harold Ramis died in 2014, so he wasn’t able to reprise Egon.
Earlier this summer director Jason Reitman teased the movie for fans.
Surely this kid is related to a Ghostbuster?
Speaking at Ghostbusters Fan Fest, he said: “We wanted to make a love letter to the original movie.”
“Sigourney has read the screenplay…Dan has read it…Ernie’s read the script…Bill Murray has read the script.”
On returning as Dana, Weaver told Parade magazine: “It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!”
“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan when I was a six-year-old visiting the set/” Jason Reitman told Entertainment Weekly.

Ghostbusters director REVEALS why his female-led reboot FAILED [INTERVIEW]
He added: “I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans.
“This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot.
“What happened in the Eighties happened in the Eighties, and this is set in the present day.”
A couple of years ago, Dan Aykroyd spoke out against Ghostbusters female led-reboot director Paul Feig.
Appearing on Channel 4 the Blues Brother said: “It cost too much, and Sony does not like to lose money. It made a lot of money around the world, but it just cost too much, making it economically not feasible to do another one. It’s too bad.
“The director, he spent too much on it and he didn’t shoot scenes we suggested to him – several scenes that were going to be needed. He said: ‘No, we don’t need them.’ And then we tested the movie and they needed them, and he had to go back — about $30 to $40 million (£23 to £31 million) in reshoots.
“So he will not be back on the Sony lot anytime soon.”
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is released in UK cinemas on July 10, 2020.
