Guns N' Roses sue brewery over Guns 'N' Rosé beer
US rock band Guns N’ Roses is suing a Colorado brewery for trademark infringement over a beer named Guns ‘N’ Rosé.
The Oskar Blues Brewery started selling the ale as early as 2018 without the group’s approval, according to court documents obtained by CNN.
The band claims the company also sells merchandise including pint glasses, bandanas, stickers and hats carrying the logo on its website.
The brewery tried to register the logo last year, but did not proceed with its application after the band members’ lawyers argued it was “confusingly similar” to the band’s logo, according to the court papers.
The band alleges it has “suffered and continues to suffer and/or is likely to suffer damage to their trademarks, trade name, business reputation, and goodwill” because people might think the beer is affiliated with the band.
In a tweet posted in November 2018, the brewery describes the beer as “sticky prickly pear and floral hibiscus with a subtle hop profile”.
