Indiana Jones 5: Steven Spielberg REVEALS setting of Harrison Ford’s next outing

Next year the iconic filmmaker and actor will team up once again for Indiana Jones 5.

While the original trilogy was set in the 1930s, the fourth outing came 19 years after the third.

So to explain his ageing, they set Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 1957 seeing Indy take on the Soviets instead of the Nazis.

But with a 2020 release date set for Indy 5, coming 12 years after the 2008 fourth film, just when will the movie be set?

Speaking with the EMPIRE podcast after collecting his Legend Award at the magazine’s 2018 ceremony, Spielberg has confirmed exactly when.

Having finished Ready Player One, the 71-year-old was asked what he was doing next.

“Unless I find something small to do this year – and I’m still looking for something, I’m developing a few things – but if I don’t find something, my next directing will be Indy next year.

“I can say that whatever it is, it’s gonna be really good! We’re still working on the story and the script.

“It’ll be in the sixties.”
