‘It’s bigger than Brexit now – it’s about DEMOCRACY’ – Brexit Party supporters SPREAK OUT

Nigel Farage’s new party stormed to victory in last week’s European Parliament elections, taking 31 percent of the British vote. They are hoping to gain their first MP on Thursday, in the Peterborough by-election. Britain had been due to leave the EU on March 29, but this has been delayed twice to October 31.

A number of Brexit Party supporters spoke to Express.co.uk outside a west London rally.

One activist commented: “We’re not out of the EU, when we voted for it in 2016, because we have a Parliament that does not believe it should carry out the will of the people.

“They’re our servants, not our masters.

“The Brexit Party is the biggest threat and that’s why I’m here.

“It’s bigger than Brexit now, it’s our failed democracy that has prevented the will of the people being carried out.”

A recent opinion poll suggested the Brexit Party would get the most votes in a general election.

The Opinium survey, for The Observer, but Mr Farage’s party on 26 percent ahead of the second placed Labour Party.

The Conservative Party is on 17 percent, only marginally ahead of the Liberal Democrats on 16 percent.

Asked to explain his support for the Brexit Party another supporter said: “For democracy, it’s to save democracy.

“It’s as simple as that. That is the bottom line.”

Another added: “My faith in politics is gone, absolutely gone.

“I’ve always voted Tory for years – love the party but I can never vote for them again because Theresa May has not delivered what I voted for and she doesn’t represent me.

“Nigel Farage, the Brexit Party, they represent me, they represent the people, they represent Brexit.

“The last time I vote is for the Brexit Party.”

Mr Farage’s hard-Brexit backing party, and the anti-Brexit Liberal Democrats, have both gained significant support as opinions become more polarised.
